There is a good saying: "Give me knowledge and I’ll make you rich". Let’s look around ourselves. We are sure that every one of us has quite an amount of forgotten waste electric and electronic equipment in the attic or the garage – some old electronic devices or computers, various electronic parts, or perhaps a piece of unknown metal?

It seems that nothing could be easier than to tidy up the garage and throw the device or a computer into waste container; however, we would also throw out materials that are hazardous to the environment and our own health. The thing which is even more interesting is that we also throw out money. Few of us know that the first "soviet" computers could contain up to 3 kg (and sometimes more) of gold, not mentioning other precious metals. Of course, we will not find the first "soviet" computers at our homes, but the whole electronic equipment contains more or less precious or non-ferrous metals. Thus by throwing out the equipment we pollute the environment and also throw out money.

Perhaps it would be better to transfer these electronic devices into qualified hands for a substantial remuneration? Only specialists know how to dispose of the hazardous materials from the electronic devices in the right way, how to separate the plastics, as well as ferrous, non-ferrous and precious metals, and to "revive” them for a new life. What is an electronic device or a computer dumped in the corner with no functional value? Only a few kilograms. However many thousands of tonnes of waste would accumulate from such kilograms in Lithuania alone.

All of us may have heard of a catalytic converter in a car. It has become an indispensible part of a vehicle – it helps to clean the exhaust gasses, thus decreasing the negative effect on the environment. However if Your car is "not in its first youth" or it has suffered at least a minor accident, its catalytic converter may be clogged of cracked and does not perform its functions, but only interferes with the functioning of the car diminishes the thrust, generates additional noise, increases fuel consumption. Such catalytic converter has to be replaced. This could be done at the nearest auto repair shop, and the old one could be sold for quite some money.

Let’s have more solidarity with nature and our own pocket!
